ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
ABOUT NAXIN
Naxin is an independent artist living and working in Hangzhou, China, and a graduate of the University of Edinburgh. Her early practice centered on visual narrative and the use of images to communicate stories and information. Following a period of personal and professional transition, however, she gradually turned inward, shifting from representational storytelling toward abstraction.
Her current practice explores inner perception, spiritual space, emotion, memory, temporality, and the subtle relationships between people and the natural world. For Naxin, painting is not simply a process of producing an artwork, but a way of understanding herself and the world around her.
Working with mineral pigments, soil, paper pulp, acrylic, wood panels, and other natural or mixed materials, she is particularly drawn to texture, traces, and the physical characteristics of materials themselves. Rather than treating material as a passive medium, she sees it as an active part of the language of each work.
